Biography

I was born in KL, Malaysia and my family moved to British Columbia, Canada when I was a kid.

I grew up listening to music with my older siblings exposing me to everything from Earth, Wind and Fire, Anita Baker, Al Jareau, Instrumental jazz funk bands like Mezzoforte and of course all the great pop, rap, hip-hop tracks of the 80's and 90's.

Above all, I found I had a tendency towards movie score soundtracks and songs written for films and TV shows. Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers: The Movie, Top Gun, Bond films, and a ton more to list. Music is my creative outlet and passion.

One of my favourite things to do is playing or learning by ear to reproduce a piece of music I love. And even more enjoyable is then expanding on that or putting my interpretation of it in other genres with different instruments and tempo. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but there's joy in the process.

I am greatly influenced by a wide range of music and genres, but these days I'm primarily focused on orchestral scores and instrumental music..

The great composers, Bach, Rachmaninoff to more recent film composers like Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, Alan Silvestri, James Horner, Hans Zimmer and John Williams are my heroes.

When not composing and making music, I am also a computer software and network engineer working for Cisco Systems. I love the balance between arts and engineering. There are so many parallels and complements in making music and engineering. I find a great balance and joy in experiencing both through this journey of life.
